Jul 03, 2026
A woman was killed and, police said, a woman and a man were hospitalized following a spate of separate shootings that happened across Philadelphia overnight.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, a violent evening in the city unfolded when a woman was killed in a shooting
that happed late Thursday in North Philly.
In this incident, he said, officers responded to the area of 25th and Master streets, on a report of a shooting to find a 37-year-old woman unresponsive on the sidewalk after having been shot in her lower back and stomach.
The woman, he said, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced at about 12:31 a.m.
At the scene of this incident, Small said, investigators recovered about 20 shell casings and there were a number of bullet holes found in a vehicle that the victim was found laying near.

Following this shooting, he said, surveillance cameras at the scene showed two light-colored sedans fleeing the scene.
Police are still reviewing the surveillance footage as, Small said, this incident remains under investigation.
Then, about ninety minutes later, at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, near the intersection of North 5th and West Champlost streets in Philly’s Olney section, a woman was shot in the shoulder, Small said.
While he couldn’t provide many details on this incident, Small said that the injured woman was taken to a hospital in Philadelphia following this shooting and she was listed in stable condition.
At about that same time, 12:30 a.m. a man walked into a Philadelphia hospital after having been shot, according to Small.
Investigators believe this man was injured in a shooting that happened near the intersection of 5th and South Carpenter streets in South Philly, he said.
And, while he didn’t have many details to provide on this incident either, Small said the man was listed in stable condition at an area hospital following that shooting.
All three of these incidents remain under investigation and, Small said, no arrests had yet been made in any of these shootings as of about 7 a.m. on Friday.
According to Philadelphia Police Department statistics, as of Thursday, July 2, 2026, there were 84 reported homicides in Philadelphia so far this year.
This is down more than 28% from the same time in 2025, police statistics show.
