A man riding an electric scooter was killed in a crash in Northeast Philadelphia on Thursday night. The crash happened around 10 p.m. on July 2 near the intersection of Margaret Street and Aramingo Avenue in the Bridesburg neighborhood. According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, a 37-year-old man was riding an electric scooter when he crossed over an intersection and was hit by a Dodge Charger being driven by a 22-year-old. Witnesses told police that the victim was traveling westbound and went through a red light as the Dodge crossed the intersection with the green light, Small explained. The man on the electric scooter was knocked from his sneakers and detectives recovered his headphones and backpack, Small said. When police got to the scene, they reported finding the man suffering from severe traumatic injuries to his head and he was pronounced dead by medics, Small explained. The driver of the Dodge stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Small. SkyForce10 was over the scene around 10:45 p.m. as emergency officials responded to the crash site. An ambulance was seen as well as extensive damage to a vehicle. No word yet on what led to the crash or if anyone was hurt. ...read more read less
