A small plane crashed in Lancaster County early Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials said the plane crashed around 1 a.m. in a wooded area behind Zero Waste Recycling off East Brooklyn Avenue near Lancaster, South Carolina. It went through trees before coming to rest an d catching on fire, the sheriff’s office said. The FAA said it was a Beechcraft BE55 that departed from a Mississippi airport and was headed to Stanly County Airport and that two men were on board.  The men, believed to be pilots, were found near the wreckage and were responsive. They had serious burns and were airlifted for additional treatment.
