A small plane crashed in Lancaster County early Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials said the plane crashed around 1 a.m. in a wooded area behind Zero Waste Recycling off East Brooklyn Avenue near Lancaster, South Carolina. It went through trees before coming to rest an d catching on fire, the sheriff’s office said. The FAA said it was a Beechcraft BE55 that departed from a Mississippi airport and was headed to Stanly County Airport and that two men were on board.  The men, believed to be pilots, were found near the wreckage and were responsive. They had serious burns and were airlifted for additional treatment. Their current condition is unknown at this time. “Our thoughts are with the two men in the plane, and we pray for their recovery from their injuries,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “We are maintaining the security of the crash site and will help the federal investigators any way we can.” ...read more read less
