The National WWII Museum will mark Independence Day with a full day of patriotic programming on Saturday, July 4, while also offering discounted admission and hotel promotions throughout July for Louisiana residents and visitors.
The museum said its Fourth of July activities will include family programming, live entertainment and special dining offerings, giving visitors an opportunity to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary while exploring the museum’s exhibits on the American experience during World War II.
The day’s schedule includes a 10 a.m. reading of Happy Birthday to You! by Dr. Seuss, complimentary family activity guides, a free 1 p.m. performance by the Victory Belles and custom dog tag stations available for purchase throughout the museum.
The museum’s dining venues also will feature holiday specials. The American Sector Restaurant Bar will serve food and drink specials from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., while Rosie’s on the Roof at The Higgins Hotel Conference Center will offer specials from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests at the rooftop venue also will have views of New Orleans‘ riverfront fireworks display scheduled for 9 p.m.
As part of a broader summer promotion, Louisiana residents can receive half-price museum admission throughout July, according to the museum. The organization said the offer is intended to encourage local visitors to experience new exhibits or visit the institution for the first time.
The Higgins Hotel Conference Center, located on the museum campus, also is offering discounts of up to 26% on guest rooms in recognition of the museum’s 26th anniversary.
Founded in 2000 as The National D-Day Museum, the institution was later designated by Congress as America’s National WWII Museum. Located in downtown New Orleans, it chronicles the American experience during World War II and has become one of the city’s leading tourism attractions.
