It’s a major day in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32. Two European powers play two smaller European countries with a spot at Dallas Stadium on Monday, July 6, on the line. First, Spain plays Austria at 2 p.m. Spain has yet to allow a goal in the tournament, led by teenage phenom Lamine Yamal in attack. They drew 0-0 with Cape Verde to open the tournament, before blowing out Saudi Arabia. They defeated Uruguay 1-0 in their final group stage game to win Group H. Austria has already played at Dallas Stadium, losing 2-0 to Argentina and Lionel Messi. They advanced as the second-place team out of Group J after drawing with Algeria and defeating Jordan 3-1 in their tournament opener. Portugal is led by international superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, but has struggled to score outside of an avalanche of goals against Uzbekistan. They finished second in Group K after a 0-0 draw with Colombia in Miami last week. Croatia finished second in Group L to England, losing 4-2 at Dallas Stadium in their World Cup opener. Since then, it’s been a 1-0 win over Panama and a 2-1 win over Ghana. Croatia has been the surprise of the last two World Cups, finishing in the top four in 2018 and 2022. Croatia is led by FC Dallas striker Petar Musa and former Real Madrid legend Luka Modric. Musa scored against England in his World Cup debut. The winners of those two games will play Monday at Dallas Stadium at 2 p.m. It will be Dallas Stadium’s only game of the week; next up is the semifinal on July 14. ...read more read less
