Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders said his office has determined that the officers who shot and killed 37-year-old Daniel Bolinger in Crestview Hills on June 19 were justified in doing so and will not face any ch
arges.On June 19, KSP said troopers were requested by the Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills Police Department to investigate the shooting, which happened just after 11 p.m. that night.Watch the full press conference below: Prosecutor: Officers who shot, killed man with spear-like weapon were justifiedAccording to KSP, Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills officers were dispatched to a home on University Circle to help with a Health and Family Services investigation.Sanders said officers had contact with Bolinger two other times in the 24 hours leading up to the shooting once on June 18 and earlier on June 19, at around 5 p.m. Sanders said during the 5 p.m. visit, officers were responding to calls reporting that a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old girl were running up and down the street, partially clothed and not under any apparent supervision.Bolinger was heavily intoxicated when officers encountered him, Sanders said. He also came out of the home and confronted officers with a spear-like object with a long handle. Two Lakeside Park officers on scene fired their weapons, Sanders said; he did not release the names of those officers.Bolinger was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene by the Kenton County Coroner's Office, according to KSP.No officers were injured, KSP said.
