Commuters who rely on SEPTA’s Regional Rail lines will see significant service interruptions on Wednesday after a train derailed along the Manayunk-Norristown line overnight. According to SEPTA officials, the incident happened at about midnight as a train along the Manayunk-Norristown line der ailed just north of the North Broad Street Station in Philadelphia. Officials said 47 people were on board when the incident occurred and there were no reported injuries. Impact on the morning commute However, because of the derailment, there was a significant impact on Regional Rail services throughout the city early Wednesday and that impact was expected to be felt throughout the day. As of about 6 a.m., officials said, these are the impacted lines: Lines out of service until further notice Manayunk-Norristown Fox Chase Chestnut Hill East Stopping at Fern Rock — passengers can transfer to Broad Street Line Lansdale-Doylestown Warminster West Trenton Operating to and from Suburban Station — no service to Jefferson Station Airport Media/Wawa Wilmington/Newark Paoli/Thorndale Passengers looking to travel to Center City will need to use Suburban Station or transfer to the L — the Market-Frankford Line — at City Hall, SEPTA said. Remaining lines, officials said, will terminate at Suburban Station. The train involved in the derailment remained at a junction in North Philly early Wednesday as crews were working to address the situation. Officials with SEPTA did not immediately say when service might be restored across the system. Wednesday morning’s train derailment comes just hours after a CSX train derailed in Bensalem on Tuesday afternoon. In that case, at least 13 trains derailed while traveling the the tracks at East Bristol Road and Grove Avenue near the Neshaminy Falls Train Station, officials said.
