Here’s a roundup of happenings for Thursday, July 2, to Wednesday, July 8.  *Starred events are free to attend, although they may include ticketed components or a suggested donation. Unit Souzou Taiko Drumming Family Performance *Wednesday, July 1: Families are welcome to a free taiko drumming and Japanese folk dance performance from Portland-based Unit Souzou at the Salem Public Library’s Loucks Auditorium, located at 585 Liberty St. S.E. The show starts at 2 p.m.  Marion Berries fireworks show, baseball game Friday, July 3: The Marion Berries, Salem’s summer collegiate baseball team, will have its first fireworks show during the Friday night home game against the Portland Pickles. The first pitch starts at 7:05 p.m. Single tickets start at $13. The game will be at the Chemeketa Community College baseball field, 4000 Lancaster Dr. N.E. There will be home games against the Pickles on Saturday and Sunday, too. See the full game schedule for the summer here.  “Mean Girls the Musical” Tuesday, July 7, through Sunday, July 12: Chemeketa Community College will perform outdoor productions of “Mean Girls the Musical” at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater at Riverfront Park. The comedy, based on the 2004 movie, is a Broadway hit that follows high schooler Cady Heron’s descent into toxic popularity. There will be shows each night at 7:30 p.m., plus a special matinee showing at 11 a.m. Tickets start at $17.40. Attendees are encouraged to bring low-back lawn chairs, cozy blankets and snacks.  “The Music Man” movie Saturday, July 4: Salem Cinema is playing a special showing of the iconic 1962 movie “The Music Man,” about a man’s effort to con a small town out of money. It will play at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, and tickets are $9. The movie theater is located at 1127 Broadway St. N.E. See their other special events here. The People’s Creative Market *Sunday, July 5: A new market in Salem will set up each Sunday in the Grand Theatre’s parking lot in downtown Salem from 2-7 p.m., featuring local art, treats and music. The parking lot is located at 187 High St. N.E.
