4 bridge was shutdown for rehab work.
Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman on Tuesday afternoon told KFOR News and other reporters the project included repairs to the bridge deck and underlying concrete structure. Work started on April 27 and was completed before Tuesday’s deadline. Barricades were removed around 2pm Tuesday for open traffic. The completion of the project comes just weeks ahead of the National Finals of High School Rodeo that will take place at the nearby Sandhills Global Event Center.
General Excavating did milling work to the bridge deck, removed deteriorated concrete and put on a new overlay and rebuilding damage sections underneath. Dingman adds the timing of the bridge reopening right ahead of the rodeo because Havelock Avenue will help with increased traffic.
