SF 4th of July fireworks: How to watch historic Golden Gate Bridge display

San Francisco will celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a Fourth of July fireworks display from the Golden Gate Bridge.
City officials said the display on the Golden Gate Bridge will be the third time in its 90-year history fireworks will be launched from the bridge.

When will the Golden Gate Bridge 4th of July fireworks begin?
The Golden Gate Bridge display is free and will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The launch will occur from the east side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Where can the Golden Gate Bridge 4th of July fireworks be viewed in person?
Recommended viewing locations include Crissy Field, Marina Green, Pier 39 and the northern Embarcadero.
The fireworks can be viewed from additional vantage points on the east side of the bridge. Attendees are recommended to arrive early due to potential crowds.
How will traffic be impacted during the Golden Gate Bridge 4th of July fireworks?
Public transportation is also strongly advised. Muni will have an extended service to help travelers arrive home following the show. The Presidio is also accessible by public transit, including the free Presidio GO shuttle.
Traffic in the Presidio and surrounding neighborhoods is highly anticipated. Visitors driving to the event should expect parking lots to fill up early, close when full, have special event fees and delayed exit times.
Drivers planning to travel between San Francisco and Marin County are advised to seek alternative routes through the East Bay or adjust their travel times. Heavy congestion on U.S. 101 and Highway 1 are also anticipated.
The Golden Gate Bridge and its sidewalks will be fully closed during the evening fireworks show.
The bridge will close to drivers at 8:30 p.m. and will reopen shortly after the conclusion of the display. The east sidewalk will be closed from Friday, July 3 at 5 a.m. to Sunday, July 5 at 5 a.m. to allow for pyrotechnic staging and removal. The west sidewalk will be closed on Saturday, July 4 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., reopening for bicyclists only.
