Though the Wawa Welcome America Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade was intended to be expended this year, it seems Mother Nature had other plans. And, instead, due to a looming heat wave, the route for the the parade, to be held in Center City Philadelphia on Friday, July 3, 2026, will be shortened from the planned 2.4 mile length to just one mile. Organizers announced the change on Monday, noting that the heat — which could feel like 110 degrees at times on Friday — caused the route to be changed. What’s the new parade route? In a statement to the organizations that will be part of the parade, organizers said that the parade will begin at noon at Independence Hall, as planned, on Friday, before heading up Sixth Street to Market Street, and then heading along Market Street headed to City Hall.
