Two people died, and nearly two dozen were hurt when a Coach bus flipped over on the Long Island Expressway overnight, striking two oncoming vehicles, authorities say. Fire officials say 20 people were hurt in the crash, which happened just before midnight near exit 16 at Greenpoint Avenue. Thre e of the victims had critical injuries, two had serious injuries, and another 15 had minor injuries, officials say. Nearly 100 emergency personnel responded to the scene. The two people who died were believed to be the bus driver and a bus passenger. Ultimately, four vehicles were involved in the accident. People were seen getting out of their cars and walking on the LIE as they tried to assess the situation. Extensive traffic impacts were expected throughout the morning.
