Pacers exercise team option on Micah Potter, retain offseason flexibility
Jun 29, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Pacers have exercised the team option on center Micah Potter’s $2.8 million contract for 2026-27, but the deal remains non-guaranteed, according to multiple reports.
The move keeps Potter with the club through summer activities and training camp while pr
eserving the team’s ability to make changes without a salary cap penalty.
Because the salary is non-guaranteed, Indiana can waive Potter before his guarantee date and avoid any cap hit. That flexibility allows the Pacers to evaluate Potter alongside new additions, keep low-cost depth at center, or include his contract as a trade piece if an opportunity arises.
Potter signed with Indiana in late December of last season, where the 28-year-old had career-high numbers in points, rebounds, and assists.
In 47 games last season, Potter averaged 9.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from three.
Potter came to Indiana after stints with the Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz.
NBA free agency negotiations begin on Tuesday, June 30th at 6 p.m.
