13 hurt as woman on 3wheel motorcycle slams into people in Brooklyn park
Jun 28, 2026
Thirteen people were injured Sunday evening — four of them critically — when a rider lost control of her 3-wheel motorcycle and crashed into people inside a park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, the NYPD said.
Officers got the call at 6:40 p.m. at Commodore Barry Park, near Flushing Ave. and Navy St
.
The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old woman, has minor injuries. The other 12 victims were bystanders. A chair could be seen stuck to the front of the bike.
The ages of those with minor injuries range from 50 to 73 years old. The motorcycle is a Can-Am 3-wheel vehicle.
Witness Andre Stanley says, “Everybody was partying and dancing and having a good time.”
He tells NBC New York he was at the DJ booth with his brother, who was providing the sounds for a house music event in the park, when he says he heard what he thought was a fight.
“I heard people screaming and yelling, so I thought it was a fight. I thought it was a fight at first,” said Stanley.
What police say Stanley heard was the woman driving the Can-Am 3-wheel motorcycle as she lost control and hit multiple people who witnesses say were dancing in the park.
“The driver came off the bike from the momentum of stopping and at the same time other people were hit on the sidewalk, sitting down, standing up or wherever,” said a witness named Eddie.
“I actually saw some people laying on the ground. Some were bleeding. Some were just laying out. Some people had ice on their knees and stuff.”
Other witnesses said it appeared the driver of the motorcycle had run into a vehicle that was doubled parked on an adjacent street and attempted to ride through the park to make it on to another street.
People who frequent the park say this is the first time they’ve ever seen or heard something like this happen. Many are grateful no one was killed.
“I don’t think it was done intentionally. This is the first time something like this ever happened,” said Carmencita Blanca of Fort Greene. “I’ve been coming here consistently over the last five years.”
“We had a beautiful day up until that, but I’m just thanking God that nobody — as far as I could see — was seriously hurt,” one witness added.
The driver was later charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrians, and improper license.
