Free Museum Days: American Swedish Historical Museum
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: American Swedish Historical Museum, 1900 Pattison Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145
About: The American Swedish Historical Museum houses 12 exhibition galleries that explore topics including the New Sweden Colony, women’s history, and Swedish immigration. The current featured exhibition at the Museum, “From Taste to Tech: 100 Years of Nordic Innovation”, explores how Nordic creations have made their mark on American soil.
Free Museum Days: Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, 6825-31 Norwitch Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19153
About: The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum contains one of the world’s foremost collections of historic racing sports cars. A self-guided experience, visitors explore the Museum’s exhibits centered on design, innovation, and competition.
Free Museum Days: Richard Allen Museum at Mother Bethel AME Church
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Mother Bethel AME Church, 419 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147
About: Situated on the oldest continuously owned parcel of land held by African Americans in the United States, the Richard Allen Museum features artifacts dating back to the early 1700s. Tours are open to the public.
Free Movie Days
When: Sunrise: Summer of Soul (2021) at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Where: Philadelphia Film Center, 1412 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19102
About: The Philadelphia Film Society is offering two-weeks of free movie screenings by and about Philadelphia. All films will be showing at the Main Screen at the Center.
Gospel On Independence
When: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Independence National Historical Park, 599 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106
About: A powerful celebration of gospel music hosted by gospel artist Maurette Brown Clark. It brings together a lineup of local artists, choirs, and musicians, headlined by 20-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and producer Kirk Franklin. Philadelphia’s own Patty Jackson will be honored.
