(CNN)– A report by the IRS’ internal watchdog sheds light on a few major problems taxpayers had this year.
The National Taxpayer Advocate Report pats the agency on the back for a largely successful filing season noting it, “performed better than expected in most respects.”
But the report
notes one problem is “unconscionable” that’s how long it takes to sort out identity theft.
Right now, half-a-million people are dealing with just that.
The average time it takes to resolve is a whopping 20 months.
