A 30-acre vegetation fire is nearing containment after hours of firefighting efforts near Look Lane and Highway 26 at the Idaho Materials and Construction site in Caldwell.Officials with the Caldwell Fire Department say that fir
e crews were able to protect multiple properties and prevent structure loss amidst challenging fuel conditions. As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, there have been no firefighter or civilian injuries reported, officials say.At the height of the incident, 80 personnel were assigned to the fire, CFD said.Neighborhood Reporters Victoria Rodriguez and Norma James were at the scene on Wednesday evening, gathering more information.WATCH: Victoria Rodriguez reports live from the scene Crews battle fast-moving vegetation fire in CaldwellThe Caldwell Fire Department was assisted by fire crews from Nampa, Wilder, Parma, Fruitland, Sand Hollow, Boise, Middleton-Star, Whitney, New Plymouth, Payette and Caldwell Rural Fire District. The Bureau of Land Management, Canyon County Emergency Management and Canyon County Paramedics also aided in the response.Caldwell Fire officials say that the fire is nearing containment."Crews will continue extinguishing hotspots, strengthening containment lines, and monitoring for any potential flare-ups," CFD said.Fire officials are expected to patrol the fire area over the next several days, until significant moisture or precipitation reduces the risk of rekindling.The cause of the fire remains under investigation."The Caldwell Fire Department extends its appreciation to all assisting agencies and personnel whose coordinated efforts helped protect lives and property during this incident," CFD said in a press release.Idaho News 6 will continue to provide updates on this story.For Canyon County happenings, news, and more join our Facebook Group: 2C Neighborhood News - Nampa, Caldwell, Middleton
