June 24, 2026: The detour around a structure replacement project in Stanley County on Bad River Road approximately 8 miles west of U.S. Highway 83 will reopen Thursday (June 25, 2026). The detour became impassable after rainstorms moved through the area last weekend. The overall completion date for the nearly $714,500 ($714,455) project is Nov. 20, 2026.   June 22, 2026: Because of recent rains, the detour around a structure replacement project in Stanley County on Bad River Road approximately 8 miles west of U.S. Highway 83 is impassible. The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the contractor will make repairs as soon as conditions allow. Until then, traffic needs to use alternate routes.
