Man drives wrong way down I95 during lengthy police chase in Philly, police say

Police were captured on camera by NBC10’s Skyforce10 as they apprehended a suspect that was believed to have been sought in an aggravated assault investigation on Wednesday morning.
The incident unfolded at about 11:14 a.m. at the 4100 block of Elbridge Street in Northeast Philadelphia on Wedn
esday morning when police observed a blue Subaru Outback that was previously reported stolen. According to police, officers attempted a traffic stop on the car, but the suspect ignored commands and refused to pull over.
Officers pursued the stolen car for several miles. At one point, officers even deployed a Taser on the suspect, but the suspect sped away, police said.
Officers terminated the pursuit after the suspect’s car entered the southbound lanes of I-95 and began driving down the roadway the wrong way, police said.
A short time later, officers spotted the stolen car abandoned at the 2700 block of Juniata Street. Officers began searching the area on foot and located the suspect hiding inside a shed on the 2800 block of Headley Street in Philly’s Bridesburg section, police said.
The suspect, who has only been identified as a 29-year-old man, turned out to be a fugitive wanted for aggravated assault and other arrest warrants, police said.
