Jun 24, 2026
When buying property “as is,” you don’t necessarily know what you’re going to get.
That was the case for a new homebuyer in Connecticut.
The individual bought a home in Hartford County’s town of Burlington at a foreclosure auction earlier this month. It was purchased “as is,” me
aning the owner accepts the property exactly as it stands.
This one, it turns out, had three dead people inside. The owner called it in on June 14.
Connecticut State Police say two of the bodies have been identified as a mother and son — Brian Cash, born in 2003, and his mother, Sally Ann, born in 1972. Their causes of death are pending investigation by the medical examiner’s office.
The third person hasn’t been identified. It’s not clear how long the bodies were in the home.
The medical examiner’s office says there’s no indication of criminality.
Police say it appears to be an isolated incident.
More information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
