Mayor Cherelle Parker handed out 100 FIFA World Cup tickets to children from two sports-based organizations in Philadelphia. During a news conference on Tuesday, June 23 at the Hunting Park Playground, Parker gave away tickets to children and their coaches from the Starfinder Foundation and Kensi ngton Soccer Club. “Today we, Philly, are going to make sure that 100 young people and their coaches attend the next two FIFA World Cup matches right here in Philadelphia,” Parker said. According to officials, the giveaway is part of the city’s commitment to expanding access to youth sports and ensuring local children participate in the excitement of Philadelphia serving as a host city for the World Cup. “This moment is supposed to belong to all Philadelphians, and especially our young people,” Parker said.
