An emotional Savannah Guthrie shared a renewed plea for help in finding her missing mother after a new report about a note sent after her disappearance that indicated Nancy Guthrie had died. The TODAY co-anchor spoke briefly on June 23 after a report on the show by NBC News correspondent Liz Kreu tz concerning a second note sent to media outlets following the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, 84, on Feb. 1. The note indicated that Nancy had died but contained no apology for allegedly taking her nor request for payment for the release of her body, three people familiar with the matter told NBC News. Following Kreutz’s report, Craig Melvin commended Savannah’s “bravery and courage” in returning to TODAY as “nothing short of remarkable.” Savannah did not comment directly on the report, but she delivered a tearful plea for any information regarding her mother’s whereabouts. “I love you guys and I love this place,” she said. “This is unusual and unprecedented to say the least, to be sitting here. I don’t have any comment on this story, and I’m not involved in our coverage, but I can’t pretend I’m not here. “And so since I am, I want to just take the opportunity to ask people, to really to beg people to come forward,” she continued. “Somebody knows something, and this is a new story today that is on your radar, but this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live, every day. And we are in agony. We cannot be at peace.” Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Timeline var pymParent = new pym.Parent('timeline', 'https://visuals.otsops.com/projects/timelines/nancy-guthrie/index.html', {title: '', parenturlparam: '', parenturlvalue: ''}); Graphic: Annetta Stogniew and Tejal Wakchoure/NBC The existence of the second note had previously been reported, but the fact that it claimed Nancy Guthrie had died had not been previously disclosed.
