Jun 22, 2026
The France-Iraq World Cup match was put into a lengthy weather delay on Monday afternoon.
The game began at 5 p.m., but severe weather that went through the area made its way to the Linc just after 6 p.m.
The game was suspended due to rain during halftime, and the second half resumed aft
er more than an hour delay.
Images obtained by NBC10 showed people crowding into the concourse area amid the rain delay.
FIFA also said that the Fan Experience at the Linc would be closed when the match is over.
Before the match, FIFA had said that in the case of unplayable weather the match could be delayed at their discretion. In the case of lightning within an eight mile radius of the Linc, the game must be paused for 30 minutes and fans must go to the concourse or emergency shelter area.
The 30-minute clock restarts for every lightning strike within the eight mile radius.
