Tonight, a few strong to severe thunderstorms will remain possible across the far eastern plains through the evening. Some storms could produce large hail, strong wind gusts, and even a brief landspout before activity gradually
winds down overnight. Skies may also look a little hazy at times due to wildfire smoke drifting in from Utah. Monday will bring another round of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, with a better chance for more widespread storm development across the plains. Some storms could become severe, bringing large hail, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain. Temperatures will stay warm, and hazy skies may continue off and on. A cold front moves through early Tuesday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures with highs mainly in the lower 80s. There will still be a chance for isolated afternoon thunderstorms, although storm coverage may depend on how quickly clouds clear after the front passes. Warm weather and chances for severe weather stick aroundFrom Wednesday into Thursday, daily afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected to become more common. Some of these storms could once again become strong to severe, especially across the plains. Residents should keep an eye on the forecast each day as storm chances remain active through midweek.By late week and into next weekend, a warmer and drier pattern is expected to develop. Hazy skies from wildfire smoke may continue at times, while elevated fire weather conditions persist in the mountains and high country.
