3 men dead after plane that took off from Ocean City, NJ, crashes in Maryland

Three people are dead after a plane that took off from Ocean City, New Jersey, crashed in Prince George’s County, Maryland late Saturday night, according to Maryland State Police.
A pilot and two passengers were flying from Ocean City, New Jersey, to the Montgomery County Air Park on Saturday.
Police believe the plane belongs to a local flight school in Montgomery County, Maryland, and was in a training flight at the time of the crash.
An iPhone crash notification was received at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday night by Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications.
The plane was not found until early Sunday morning at about 3:45 a.m., according to police. The crash happened in a wooded area near a Bowie townhouse community and a playground off of Scarlett Oak Court.
Police say it was a single engine plane crash and the initial investigation says the crash happened at about 11:30 p.m.
Maryland State Police confirmed all three people were men. They were pronounced dead on the scene. Their identities were not immediately released by police.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating what happened leading up to the crash.
