SFPD officer shot in police chase released from hospital
Jun 19, 2026
A San Francisco police officer who was shot in the line of duty earlier this month has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home with her family.
The San Francisco Police Officers Association identified the officer as Brittany Taylor. In a social media post, the San Francisco
Police Department shared video showing Taylor leaving the hospital in a wheelchair with her left leg in a cast.
Taylor was greeted by fellow officers and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie as she departed the hospital.
The shooting happened about two weeks ago following a high-speed chase and crash that ended in the Bayview neighborhood. Taylor suffered life-threatening injuries and underwent surgery.
The suspect, 36-year-old Norris Reed, has been charged with attempted murder.
