Mogulist Nick Page pressing on with offseason training
Jun 19, 2026
With the Iran war spelling an early end to the World Cup moguls season back in March, skiers got an early jump on their offseason training. For Park City’s Nick Page, the fourth-ranked mogulist in the world, the extra week or so off meant more time to try out new equipment, find lasting snow to t
rain on and hit the gym with his trainer Hannah Kearney, the 2010 Olympic moguls gold medalist.
Page, who never likes to take a lot of time off in the offseason, has the added motivation this year of feeling he left some things on the table this past season, despite the career year. He and the other men’s mogulists sense great opportunity this coming season with the retirement of Canadian Mikael Kingsbury in March, who won 100 World Cups and five Olympic medals during his career. The 2026-27 World Cup season will begin with the Ruka, Finland, World Cup on Dec. 12.
“It’s been really good,” Page said about the start to his offseason. “Right after our World Cup season ended, I did some ski testing and different equipment stuff. And from there I jumped on a plane, went over to Japan and skied and coached in a camp over there.”
Page got in another on-snow camp after Japan with U.S. coach Steve Desovich, with whom he primarily works. After that camp, he spent a lot of time in the Center of Excellence gym with Kearney, and he’s been training on the water ramps at the Utah Olympic Park over the last week.
On Monday, the U.S. Ski Team announced that Head Moguls Team Coach Bryon Wilson would be stepping down after four years at the helm. Wilson, the 2010 Games moguls bronze medalist, will be replaced by Canadian Rob Kober, who’s led the Canadian Moguls Team for 15 years. Desovich will remain on as Kober takes over the coaching staff.
“Oh my God,” Page said about the addition of Kober to the staff. “I could not be more excited to have Rob come down and lead our team. … He’s arguably one of, if not the, best coaches of all time.”
Kingsbury’s first eight seasons on the Canadian national team were under Kober’s coaching, according to Page.
Kober will be joining the team later this summer as they continue with gym and water ramp work and prepare for preseason, on-snow camps.
“I’ll be here through the middle of August before we head down to Chile,” Page said. “I think it’s the most time in one stint since I was probably a sophomore in high school. … We’ll do a couple different trips down to Chile to get on snow before we head over to Europe in the fall.”
As far as goals for the upcoming season go, Page said he isn’t yet thinking beyond the season-opening Ruka World Cup. He’d like to start the season, which features the Deer Valley World Cup and a year-end World Championships, off strong.
“I think for a lot of people a door maybe just got a little more cracked open,” Page said about Kingsbury’s retirement. “He’s such a hard person to beat; I’ve skied in 77 World Cups, and I think I’ve beaten him once. … But at the same time, I think the sport is really going to miss him. He had such an impact.”
