A boy was charged with assault after shooting a teenager in the eye with a BB gun earlier this week, according to the Wilmington Police Department. Officers were called to a hospital around 3 a.m. on Monday, June 15 after it was reported that a 14-year-old boy was shot with a BB gun, police said . The incident happened on the 700 block of Buttonwood Street in Wilmington and left the teen suffering from a serious eye wound, officials said. Police reported identifying the suspect as a 12-year-old boy and were able to get a warrant for his arrest. On the next day, June 16, officers went to the 1100 block of B Street and said they were able to take the 12-year-old into custody. Officers said they found the BB gun connected to this incident.
