INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Geno Shelton is bringing decades of music magic and local love to WISH-TV’s “Life.Style.Live!” as the newest entertainment contributor.
From the streets of Chicago to the he
art of Indianapolis, Shelton’s journey has been anything but ordinary.
Since 1985, he has been spinning decks, promoting events and shaping the city’s music scene.
His legendary tenure at WTLC radio cemented his status, working alongside icons like Al Green, James Brown and Mary J. Blige.
“I’ve always believed music is more than sound — it’s a way to connect people, build community and spread love,” Shelton shared. “That’s what I want to bring to ‘Life.Style.Live!’ — real stories from the heart of Indy that make us proud.”
‘Hot Hoosiers’: Showcasing local talent
Shelton will debut his “Hot Hoosiers” segment soon, spotlighting local artists and uncovering hidden venues and festivals across the city.
His eye for discovery aims to give viewers insider access to the vibrant, often overlooked talents and events fueling Indy’s creative spirit.
“Indianapolis has so much to offer beyond the headlines,” Shelton said. “There’s a richness here — places and people that tell our story in unique ways. It’s about celebrating that.”
From radio legend to TV contributor
Shelton’s career began when his father, a concert promoter in Chicago, introduced him to the world of live entertainment.
He arrived in Indianapolis in 1985, quickly becoming one of WTLC’s highest-rated personalities.
Beyond radio, Shelton worked as a nightclub DJ and event promoter, producing the first major festival for Indiana Black Expo in 1999.
His promoter credits include shows at the Murat Theatre, Gainbridge Fieldhouse and venues across the city, bringing acts from Tina Turner to Chris Tucker to Indianapolis audiences.
A philosophy built on love
As a community-focused storyteller, Shelton’s addition to the “Life.Style.Live!” family adds a warm, welcoming voice filled with pride for his city and its culture.
“I’m a faith-based kind of guy, so I base everything on love,” Shelton explained. “You gotta love everybody. If I can make you smile, I’m doing something.”
Viewers can expect fresh insights, exclusive interviews and a genuine showcase of Indy’s entertainment soul.
Shelton will make his on-air debut on “Life.Style.Live!” later this month. The show airs weekdays at 4 p.m. on WISH-TV.
