Lionel Messi leads Argentina into Texas after dominating Algeria Tuesday night. Argentina is tied with Austria atop Group J. The winner of Monday’s game will clinch a spot in the knockout round; the loser will still be in position to clinch a spot with a win in its third and final group stage game

Messi opened his tournament with a hat-trick to tie the all-time FIFA World Cup goal-scoring record at 16. He’s also tied for first in this tournament’s Golden Boot race for most goals.
Austria won its first World Cup game in 36 years with its 3-1 victory over Jordan Tuesday; its last win was against the USMNT at the 1990 World Cup. Jordan is making its debut run at the FIFA World Cup. No World Cup debutant has won its opening game since Senegal beat France in 2002.
Argentina plays Austria Monday, June 22, at Dallas Stadium at noon; Jordan plays Algeria in California at 10 p.m. CST.
Group J will be the final group to find out its knockout stage play; all four teams wrap up group stage play on June 27.
