RALEIGH, N.C. – A North Carolina bill inspired by the tragic death of a six-year-old Charlotte girl is one step closer to becoming law. The North Carolina House passed the Dominique Moody Safety Act unanimously on Wednesday. Representative Carla Cunningham introduced the bill in response to Dom inique’s death. The six-year-old died in December, after being found living in feces and urine at a home in east Charlotte. Lawmakers say the new measure aims to catch warning signs earlier, and to ensure repeated reports of abuse receive greater scrutiny.
