The YMCA of Greater Charlotte announced it plans to sell the Morrison property in south Charlotte. The Board of Directors approved to sell the property for $42.5 million to Moments of Hope Church, who plans to redevelop it into a new church home to expand its ministry through community outreach ini tiatives that include sports programming and a possible new school. “We know the Morrison YMCA has been a meaningful place for many members, families and staff,” said Sue Glass, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. “We are approaching this transition with care and respect for the relationships built there. While this decision represents a significant change, it also creates an opportunity to strengthen how we serve communities across our region in the years ahead.” The Morrison location, near Bryant Farms Road and North Community House Road, will stay open until its anticipated closure in summer 2027. The YMCA said all programs, services, camps, and member offerings will continue as scheduled. Members at the Morrison campus will continue to have access to all YMCA locations. The announcement is part of a broader reinvestment strategy to improve its network of centers. Part of the Morrison sale will be reinvested to expand program capacity and enhance nearby facilities, the YMCA said. “Our mission depends on organizational strength,” Glass said. “To scale our impact, we need strong centers, strong teams and strong financial stewardship. This work is about building a YMCA that is ready for the next generation of Charlotte – one that is deeply connected to community need and positioned to deliver long-term impact for families across our region.” ...read more read less
