Mac and cheese sold at Aldi recalled over undeclared allergens

More than 500,000 packages of ready-to-eat macaroni and cheese sold at Aldi have been recalled over an undeclared allergen.
The Food and Drug Administration said BEF Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling its Park St. Deli Macaroni Cheese because it may contain soy lecithin, which can pose a risk t
o people with soy allergies or sensitivities. The ingredient was not disclosed in the package.
The refrigerated pasta dish comes in 20-ounce packages with a paper sleeve and was sold at Aldi stores nationwide, according to the recall notice.

The manufacturer issued an initial recall on March 23. On June 10, the FDA updated the classification to a Class II recall, which the FDA considers “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
The FDA advises customers who purchased the recalled products to not consume it and return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
