San Diego police investigating two homicides downtown
Jun 15, 2026
Authorities were investigating two homicides Monday in downtown San Diego, one of which led to an arrest.
The two investigations were underway about a mile apart: at C and Union streets, near the San Diego Central Courthouse; and at 13th and F streets, near the massive East Village Green constru
ction project, San Diego police said.
Police were called to the C Street scene just after midnight for a reported stabbing, where they found a man in his 30s or 40s wounded. SDPD Lt. Joel Tien said. The man was transported to an area hospital, where he died.
The stabbing was captured on surveillance video, Tien said, and a search was launched for a man in dark clothing who was last week walking along C Street near Front Street.
A man matching the description was located by a Metropolitan Transit System security guard at the Imperial Avenue Trolley Station, about a mile and a half away, police said. He was arrested and identified as 22-year-old Conrad Waldron.
The second investigation began just before 5 a.m after a person called 911 to report a man was unresponsive on the ground near 13th and F.
San Diego police said officers attempted to revive him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man had trauma to the upper body, so a homicide investigation was launched, SDPD said.
Investigators were still working to determine whether the two incidents were connected.
Both investigations were affecting traffic. The investigation at F Street was affecting drivers exiting westbound state Route 94, who were being diverted around a closure between Park Boulevard and 13th Street. Traffic was shut down for a small portion of C Street but the courthouse was not affected by the second investigation.
This is a developing story. Details may change as information is released.
