ISLAMABAD (AP) — The United States and Iran have reached a tentative deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The deal has been brokered mainly by Pakistan. Pakistani officials say the deal starts with the simultaneous lifting of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. bl ockade of Iran’s ports. The two sides will then enter 60 days of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and the potential lifting of sanctions. The officials spoke anonymously because the text is being kept confidential. Still much remains unknown, however, including whether the deal says anything about Iran’s missile program and the fighting in Lebanon.
