The partnership aims to strengthen family financial stability and expand access to financial education across New Orleans.   Credit Human Federal Credit Union has partnered with New Orleans nonprofit Son of a Saint to provide financial literacy programming for parents, guardians and caregivers through the organization’s Project Patron Saint initiative. The financial wellness series began as part of Project Patron Saint, a curriculum launched by Son of a Saint in January that is designed to support the adults who help raise and mentor the nonprofit’s participants. The initiative is organized around the organization’s “8 Traits of Wellness” framework. Under the partnership, Credit Human is leading a series of educational sessions focused on budgeting, credit building and long-term financial planning while providing participants access to one-on-one financial guidance through its Financial Health Centers across New Orleans. “Credit Human is honored to partner with Son of a Saint, an organization that makes such a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in New Orleans,” said Jennifer “J.J.” Jaskierny, New Orleans operations manager for Credit Human. “By supporting guardians with financial literacy tools and knowledge, we have an opportunity to strengthen families by improving financial health, reducing financial stress and increasing the well-being of a community.” According to Credit Human, the partnership is intended to strengthen financial stability among caregivers by providing practical skills that can be applied immediately and shared with the young people they support. The educational series includes sessions on creating a spending plan, understanding and building credit, and planning for long-term financial goals. Future workshops are expected to address topics including homeownership and fraud prevention. “Credit Human’s partnership in our Project Patron Saint initiative is an important investment in the families we serve and in the broader New Orleans community,” said Lyndsay Neel, senior mental health specialist at Son of a Saint. “Financial literacy is essential to long-term stability and opportunity, and we are excited about this program that will share practical knowledge and resources with our constituents who can benefit from them and pass them to future generations.” Jaskierny said the collaboration aligns with Credit Human’s mission to improve financial health and expand access to financial resources in underserved communities. Credit Human operates six Financial Health Centers in New Orleans and plans additional locations, according to the credit union. The organization said its model emphasizes financial coaching and education in neighborhoods where traditional banking services have become less accessible. Founded in 2011, Son of a Saint provides mentorship and wraparound support services for boys growing up without a father, offering life-skills development, mental health resources and educational opportunities to help participants prepare for adulthood. ...read more read less
