On July 1, New York City will pay all nonprofits the full amount they are owed under a new law — 50 percent of their annual contract award — according to the mayor’s senior spokesperson, Dora Pekec. The decision comes after pushback and a planned rally Tuesday by hundreds of nonprofits tha t serve needy New Yorkers, and criticism from City Council leaders who indicated Monday they would hold hearings on the situation, first reported by NBC New York.
