A 50-year-old woman riding a bicycle was hit and killed by a vehicle in Albemarle on Friday night, according to police. It happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Love Street and Wiscassett Street. Police said Veronica Harvey was riding a bike southbound on Love Street when a pickup truck, dr iven by Edgar Petatan, was traveling east on Wiscassett Street. The two collided, causing Harvey to be thrown from the bike. Harvey was airlifted to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.
