The Knicks did it! New York has a championship basketball team once again after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 in the NBA Finals. Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced a ticker-tape parade in the teams’ honor within an hour of their Game 5 victory in Texas. City Hall, he said, will als o present the New York Knicks with Keys to the City. “For more than 50 years, New Yorkers have waited for this moment,” Mamdani said in a statement. “Through near misses, heartbreak and a hope that every year could be our year, this city never stopped believing in the Knicks. And this team fulfilled that hope with grit, resilience and heart — just like the five boroughs itself.” The parade and key ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 18.
