A grateful farewell to our New York correspondent, Deb Miller
Jun 09, 2026
Now that DC Theater Arts is a nonprofit organization dedicated to covering local theater in the DC region, we have made the difficult decision to eliminate our New York coverage.
That means that this week’s Tony Award coverage will be Deb Miller’s last contribution to DCTA.

Deb has been with the organization since it was founded by Joel Markowitz in 2017. In the decade since, she became our sole NYC correspondent and NY Editor. Her articles and reviews brought attention to NYC’s often overlooked smaller productions, and her name came to be synonymous with quality, in-depth coverage. A member of the prestigious Outer Critics Circle, Deb tirelessly covered every Broadway and Off-Broadway show each season. In addition, she always kept an eye out for editorial angles of special interest to DC-area readers: book releases, films, any event that may make you want to book an Acela train and head to the Great White Way.
Joel used to call Deb the Energizer Bunny because she could be counted on, day after day, year after year, to cover more shows in a month than others did in a year.
We are grateful to Deb for her long and illustrious history with DCTA, and look forward to what she does next. You can keep up with her coverage of New York theater at Theaterscene.com.
