Two San Francisco pedestrians who died in separate traffic collisions last week were identified Monday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Cheryl Coleman, a 61-year-old San Francisco resident, was identified as the victim of a collision in the city’s South of Market neighborhood. At 5:31 a.m. on Wednesday, San Francisco police responded to a reported collision around Brannan and Seventh streets. According to police, Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that hit her stayed and cooperated with the investigation, and police did not find evidence of alcohol or drugs, the department said. Less than an hour later, police and paramedics responded to the 900 block of Geneva Avenue in the Excelsior neighborhood to investigate a report about a deceased person in the street. Edson Abraham Morales Garay, a 26-year-old San Francisco resident, was identified by the medical examiner as the victim in that collision. The pedestrian advocacy nonprofit Walk San Francisco said this collision was the third pedestrian death on Geneva Avenue in the last three years. “Our hearts break for the victims and their loved ones,” said Jodie Medeiros, executive director of Walk SF, in a statement. “People are dying simply walking in our city.” ...read more read less
