Landers says her first impression of Acosta was that he was “less serious and funnier in person than he was on TV.” Acosta says he found Landers to be a tenacious reporter. Six months after their engagement, the pair celebrated with a wedding they called “classic but unfussy and fun.” The location was dear to Landers’s heart: “My grandfather was a retired Army general, and he spent a lot of time at Army Navy Country Club in his later years,” she said before the wedding. “I have so many memories of family meals and summer camp there as a kid. It’s very special to be getting married there and I know my grandfather’s presence will be felt.”  John Lapin, Landers’s friend from college, officiated the ceremony, which featured music by a string duet and readings from Landers’s and Acosta’s siblings. Landers wore a Kyha dress with, she says, the tallest Christian Louboutin shoes she could find, plus a custom veil designed by her godfather, hat designer Eric Javits, and jewelry from her mother’s family. Acosta wore a tux by Geoffrey Lewis.  The reception was decorated with bright flowers, blue linens and place settings, and candles. Nods to the couple’s dog, Duke, popped up throughout the wedding weekend, including on the custom cocktail napkins, which were Acosta’s favorite design detail. An old-fashioned telephone “guest book” through which guests could leave well wishes and advice was Landers’s favorite detail. The menu included passed hors d’oeuvres such as cilantro lime shrimp cocktail and artichoke beignets on the patio for cocktail hour, followed by a dinner that included poached pear salad to start, crab cakes with seasonal succotash or filet mignon with lobster mashed potatoes for the main dish, plus vegetarian and vegan options. For dessert: a wedding cake layered with strawberry cake and vanilla cream and vanilla cake with raspberry jam and vanilla cream. To keep the energy high for dancing, late-night bites included quesadillas and grilled cheeses. Throughout the evening, signature cocktails included margaritas, for him, and for her, an Aperol Spritz as a nod to of their upcoming honeymoon in Capri.  Wedding Details Photographer: Birds of a Feather Photography Venue and caterer: Army Navy Country Club Planning, design, and florals: Event Studio, Kelley Truxel Stationery: Minted Cake: Sweets by E Hairstylist: Hair by Remona Makeup artist: Phenomenal Faces Bride’s attire: Kyha (dress); Christian Louboutin (shoes); Eric Javits (veil) Groom’s attire: Geoffrey Lewis, Ltd.
