An Allentown man was sentenced to prison Thursday for his role in a large-scale burglary ring that targeted several homes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, according to Lehigh County prosecutors.
Roger Juan Tirado, 53, will serve 14 to 30 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty in April to fe
lony charges of corrupt organizations, receiving stolen property, person not to possess a firearm and 16 counts of burglary.
Tirado was one of several people charged in 2024 in connection with a burglary ring that included stolen cash, guns and jewelry, valued at more than $160,000, from several homes in Lehigh, Berks and Northampton counties as well as at least one home in New Jersey.
In 2019, Lehigh County law enforcement agencies were investigating burglaries and attempted burglaries at homes in Allentown, Bethlehem, Emmaus, Lower Macungie Township, Salisbury Township, South Whitehall Township, Upper Saucon Township, Upper Milford Township and Whitehall Township.
During their investigation, detectives noted some unique patterns with the burglaries.
Officials said the burglars would enter the homes by prying open doors, windows or through an unlocked door. Moreover, most of the burglaries happened during daylight hours and, in several cases, residents and children were home at the time of the crimes and the burglars fled after being discovered.
According to prosecutors, items recovered included more than 30 firearms, jewelry, coins, financial documents and electronics.
Several other defendants charged in this burglary ring had previously pleaded guilty, officials said. However, one of the suspects remains wanted by law enforcement.
Another defendant is awaiting hearing to determine competency, prosecutors said.
