The NYPD is looking for a person they say attacked a 98-year-old man with a broomstick and a chair in a confrontation in the lobby of a residential building in Brooklyn.
According to police, the 98-year-old victim walked into the building, near Maple Street and Rogers Avenue in Prospect Lefferts
Gardens, in the middle of the afternoon Thursday and ran into the suspect, who was distributing flyers in the lobby.
They argued. It turned physical. Cops say the suspect repeatedly punched and kicked the victim before hitting him with a broomstick and a metal chair. The individual then ran off.
A “no flyers, no posters, no stickers” sign is visible near the victim’s property.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Neighbors described him as well-liked.
“A really cool person, someone makes you laugh, comes around to say hi, always with a joke, so to hear that someone beat him because he doesn’t want anything on this property, it’s sad,” one said. “He really didn’t deserve that.”
Police released surveillance video of the suspect that was captured by a neighboring home (above).
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
