Léelo en español aquí Officers with the Gloucester Township Police Department were called to the Cherrywood Apart ment on the 1200 block of Little Gloucester Road around 11:52 a.m. on June 4 for reports of a fire, officials said. The fire was discovered inside the apartment of 25-year-old Taquan Ayers and was extinguished before it could spread to other units, police said. As they investigated, officials said that they got ahold of surveillance video of Ayers that showed up holding a gasoline can at the apartment complex just before the fire. About 10 minutes later, officials with the Winslow Township police and fire departments were called to the Oaks Integrated Care located on the 100 block of Berlin-Cross Keys Road after an arson was reported, police said. When officers got to the facility, they said they found a parked car that belonged to Ayers which had been set on fire. Investigators explained that Ayers set his car on fire and then walked into the facility with a gasoline can where he doused the lobby and tried to light a fire but couldn’t. Ayers works as a licensed practical nurse at the facility and police said that he made threatening comments to his coworkers during the incident and even locked one coworker in an office for several minutes. There were patients and workers inside the facility during the incident but no one was hurt. Eventually, Ayers walked outside and was arrested, police said. Ayers was taken to Camden County Correctional Facility while he waits for a detention hearing in Superior Court. He was charged with aggravated arson, attempted murder, kidnapping and other related charges in both Gloucester and Winslow townships.
