5 exhibits to see at Salem’s galleries, museums in June

June at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art will feature a new exhibition of ceramics, textiles and glass work spanning decades. Other gallery shows in Salem include miniature paintings and a celebration of Pacific Islander art and heritage.
Between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, the Salem Art Walk
will bring live music, food and artists to galleries throughout downtown.

Handmade Revolution: Craft in the Pacific Northwest
At the Hallie Ford Museum of Art from June 13 through March 13, 2027
The Hallie Ford Museum of Art will be featuring works of ceramics, textiles, glass, wood and metal from its collections. A portion of the exhibit will share the Northwest’s studio pottery movement from the 1950s to the 1980s.“Handmade Revolution explores the changes that have taken place in the craft world over the past 75 years and the cultural shifts that continue to impact craft today,” a gallery description said.
Starting Tuesday, June 23, there will be a series of talks and gallery walkthroughs this summer from curator Jonathan Bucci. Admission to the gallery talks is free.Learn more on the museum’s website. See what else is showing at Hallie Ford here.

Admission: $8 general, $5 for seniors. Admission for all is free on Tuesdays, including for children, students, educators and museum members.
My Third Childhood
At the Salem Art Association through June 28
Through combining mixed media, writing and projections, the work of artist Limei Lai reflects on history and memory.“This body of work translates her findings in Asian American history research and Asian immigrant women interviews, focusing on women’s life experiences, intergenerational communications and cultural conflicts,” said a gallery description.

Art in Miniature
At Elsinore Framing Fine Art Gallery/ Artists in Action
Elsinore Framing’s Annual Art in Miniature show will share work by 11 local artists, with the only requirement being that the frame is less than a square foot. Over 30 original pieces will be shown, along with new ceramics from Gall’s Gallery.There will be an opening celebration for the miniature show on Friday, June 5, from 5 – 8 p.m. Then an awards announcement will take place at 6 p.m.
Members from Artists in Action will also be sharing their latest works. Meet the artists here.Saturday, June 21, will be Make Music Salem day, where live bands will play throughout the city. The gallery will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary that day.
“The business achieves its milestone anniversary in June and we’re celebrating with live music all day, refreshments, giveaways and door prizes from 1-6,” manager Brent Allen said in an email.

Pacific Islanders: Navigators of the sea
At the World Beat Gallery through July 31
This year’s World Beat Festival, celebrating the cultures of the Pacific Islands, will be at Riverfront park on June 27 and 28. Throughout the month, the World Beat Gallery, located near downtown Salem, will be sharing art, dance, music and history from the region in a gallery exhibition.

Emergence
At the Stefani Art Gallery from June 5 through July 31
Walla Walla-based artist Emily Somoskey’s work combines work with paint, collage and photographic imagery, while exploring the abstract and reality.
“Familiar subjects such as pools, birds’ nests, lawn chairs and architectural fragments appear alongside cosmic forms, diagrams and shifting fields of color, creating compositions that feel both grounded and otherworldly,” a gallery description said.
