        COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – An effort is underway to build the Women’s Suffrage National Monument on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It will be the first monument on the National Mall dedicated to women. As part of ABC Columbia’s America 250 series, Kelly Coakley talked with t he person leading that effort and a Midlands fifth-grade student who answered the nationwide call for ideas about who the monument should represent. The Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation is currently accepting ideas for the monument through the end of 2026. Learn how to submit your idea.
