ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police say a Rock Hill man was shot and killed while chasing a suspect accused of breaking into his vehicle early Thursday morning. The Rock Hill Police Department is investigating the early morning shooting that killed a 39-year-old man. The shooting happened at 4:40 a.m., on A melia Avenue, when the man saw someone inside his vehicle. As he came outside his home, the suspect ran away. Police say the man chased after the suspect before the gunshots were fired. Officers arrived in the area and located the shooting victim in the yard a home on Amelia Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Law Enforcement Officers from the Rock Hill Police Department and York County Sheriff’s Office searched the area for the suspect who has not been located.
