(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(News Release June 4)–American Airlines officially begins service at Lincoln Airport on June 4, 2026, marking a major milestone in the airport’s continued growth and expansion of air service options for the Southeast Nebraska region. “We are thrilled to unlock new connections between American’s global network and the Lincoln community,” said Joseph Hughes, American’s Managing Director of Government Affairs. “Our new nonstop service between Lincoln and two of our most connected hubs — Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago — provides our newest community with convenient one-stop access to more than 350 destinations around the globe. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard across our multiple daily options connecting Lincoln with the world on American.” To celebrate the launch, Lincoln Airport hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 4, at the LNK terminal ahead of American Airlines’ inaugural departure to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Community leaders, airport officials, airline representatives, and local partners will gather to commemorate the addition of American Airlines to the Lincoln market. American Airlines’ new service from Lincoln includes: daily nonstop service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), twice-daily nonstop service to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), seasonal nonstop service to Phoenix (PHX) beginning December 17, 2026 The new routes provide travelers with expanded access to American’s global network while increasing competition, connectivity, and convenience for travelers across Nebraska. “This is an exciting day not only for Lincoln Airport, but for our entire community and region,” said Chris Hove, Chair of the Lincoln Airport Authority Board. “The arrival of American Airlines represents years of strategic planning, partnership building, and community support. These new flights create more travel options, strengthen our local economy, and further position Lincoln for future growth.” The launch of American Airlines service continues a period of historic momentum for Lincoln Airport. Since 2025, LNK has added new service from Breeze Airways to Orlando, Las Vegas, and Orange County, while United Airlines has continued service to both Denver and Chicago. This summer will be one of the busiest LNK has had, with over 900 seats available during the peak travel month of July.
