Man accused of shooting San Francisco police officer charged with several felonies

A 36-year-old Oakland man accused of shooting a San Francisco police officer on Sunday was charged Wednesday with two counts of attempted murder and several other felonies.
Norris Reed III is suspected of shooting at two officers in the Bayview neighborhood, striking one of them multiple times, a
ccording to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
Officer Brittney Taylor underwent emergency surgery on Monday and was in serious but stable condition on Wednesday, according to Sam Singer, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Officers Association.
Singer said she was improving, was alert and getting better, but was in pain. He said she was grateful for the “outpouring of support and love.”

Reed was scheduled to be arraigned in San Francisco Superior Court on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm on a peace officer, two counts of shooting from a moving vehicle, and other felony charges related to firearm allegations.

San Francisco police officer expected to live following shootout with suspect
SFPD officers allegedly tried to stop his vehicle after it was flagged by automatic license plate readers on the Bay Bridge as allegedly being involved in a recent armed robbery, according to the DA’s Office.
Reed allegedly fled from where police initiated the stop at Fifth and Folsom streets and led officers on a chase that ended when he allegedly crashed into a concrete barrier at Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue.
He was accused of shooting at officers when he opened the door to his vehicle.
A passenger in the vehicle was also shot by police officers who returned fire, according to the police department. They were hospitalized in critical condition after the shooting and police had no update on their status on Wednesday.
Reed allegedly fled and was later found in the Bayshore Navigation Center at 125 Bayshore Blvd. Two firearms were allegedly recovered.
The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, the police department’s Investigative Services Division and Internal Affairs Division, and the Department of Police Accountability are investigating the shooting.
